What ingredients are used in your soap?
Mossy uses a variety of ingredients in the soaps. Basic soap requires fat (usually some type of oil), sodium hydroxide (lye), and water as the primary ingredients.
For us, the key ingredient is the goat milk produced on Faith’s Farm OK, our little homestead farm. The milk is always one of the top ingredients. In general, goat milk is approximately 85% water so we use it instead of the water for our soap.
We then select oils from the following list to create a unique recipe generally using only 4 or 5 of the different oils. Oils may include Abyssinian Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Babassu Butter Oil, Castor Oil, Cherry Kernel Oil, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Sunflower Oil, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Olive Oil, and Oat Oil.
No synthetic additives are used in our basic natural line. Alternatively, we produce a line that utilizes fragrance oils, mica colorants, clays, exfoliants, or salts.
